St Tropez Spray Tan

What is a spray tan?

A spray tan is a sunless tanning method where a fine mist is sprayed onto the body. This low-pressure spraying mist contains an important chemical called DiHydroxyAcetone (DHA) that's absorbed into the top layer of skin cells, causing a chemical reaction that darkens your skin.

What happens during a spray tan?

Spray Tanning is a 20-minute treatment and involves wearing a disposable bra (optional), a pair of pants, and a protective shower cap which are all provided as part of your treatment, you may wear your own clothing but be advised it is best to wear black.

You are left in privacy to get ready before then entering the tanning tent where you will be sprayed from toe to head with your chosen tan.

Once the spray tan is complete you will be provided with a glass of water and left in privacy while you stand and dry for about 5 minutes before dressing.

The spray tan results?

You will have a guide colour on you when you leave the salon, this will need to be washed off according to the developing time for the tan you have booked. Full tanning results can be seen 24hrs after treatment.

It is recommended to have a trial tan well ahead of an important occasion such as your wedding day.

Why choose St. Tropez?

St Tropez use a unique blend of high quality DiHydroxyAcetone (DHA) that is 100% natural, clean and vegan-friendly. Their DHA is a bi-product of Sugar Beet (created from the vegetable’s waste) in the Champagne region. They sustainably source using biotechnology (a fermentation process, meaning no chemicals and a low energy process is required to extract the tanning active) and process the raw materials in the same area to minimalize the environmental impact. Their tanning active tailors to your individual skin tone, meaning you will always result in a natural-looking glow, so you can glow with confidence all year round.

The tanning mist also ensures quick-drying, streak-free application and provides your skin with ultimate hydration, ensuring a gorgeous long-lasting result. It also comes complete with Aromaguard™ Fragrance Technology, this high-quality formula eliminates the self-tan scent and also ensures a professional finish every time.

 Before spray tan advice

  • Your skin should be free from self tan, perfume, deodorant and aromatherapy oils
  • Waxing or shaving should be completed at least 24 hours prior to the treatment
  • The evening or morning before your treatment, exfoliate your entire body. Pay special attention to dry areas of your body such as hands, elbows, knees and feet
  • Wear dark, loose fitting clothing with dark coloured underwear for your journey home (Disposable ladies underwear is provided for the treatment). Self-tan may stain, so take care not to get it on furnishings, wool, nylon, paintwork or light hair.
  • You MUST have a patch test done a minimum of 24hours prior to your first treatment

After spray tan advice

  • Do not touch or rub the applied tan once the treatment is completed
  • Do wash the guide colour off after the agreed amount of time has passed.
  • Do Stay in the shower until the water runs clear. Do not worry that a lot seems to be washing off, this is simply the excess guide colour and the true colour of the tan will still remain on the skin. Use circular motions with your hands over your skin to lift the guide colour of the skin.
  • Do pat yourself dry rather than harshly rubbing dry with the towel.
  • Do not participate in any activity which may cause perspiration until you have washed the guide colour off. If it’s naturally a hot day - STAY COOL! Any sweating within the development time can alter the outcome of the tan.
  • Do not use any sauna or steam type facilities until you have washed the guide colour off. Avoid swimming in this time too.
  • Do not use any harsh cleansers or peeling products for the time you wish your tan to stay on.

For a normal spray tan the guide colour can be left on overnight although it may transfer onto bed linen. It will wash out of cotton, but not so easily from man-made fibres or wool

How to make your spray tan last longer

  • Apply Body Moisturiser or Body Butter daily
  • Exfoliate your skin every 2-3 days to ensure even fading.
  • Apply moisturiser daily following your first shower as this will help to maintain your tan. Please ensure you use a WHITE CREAM moisturiser and avoid oils during the time you wish your tan to remain.
  • After showering pat the skin dry rather than rubbing
  • Avoid swimming pools as chlorine can bleach the tan
  • Do not receive any waxing treatments during the time you wish your tan to remain on the skin
